"If a girl wants to be a legend, she should just go ahead and be one." - Calamity Jane
Maybe my favorite quote of all time, from the mouth of a whiskey-soaked, leather-clad, foul-mouthed ruffian. And also, by many accounts, she didn't bathe at all.
When some history buffs hear that we made a scent inspired by Calamity Jane, they worry. Justifiably. I don't think even whiskey-soaked, leather-clad, foul-mouthed ruffians wanted to smell like Calamity Jane... and yet, here she was, too legendary to let lie.
So, when we were thinking of this company, and of the legends we pay tribute to, we knew we had to dedicate a special place in our collection to Calamity Jane.
Jack Crawford wrote, "She was simply a notorious character, dissolute and devilish, but possessed a generous streak which made her popular." And that's what inspired her scent: a little spicy, a little sweet.
Calamity Jane smells like clove, orange, cinnamon, and a kick of whiskey (of course!). It's quickly growing in popularity as one of our most beloved scents, and no question why: It's great for both men and women, it's sweet with a kick.
If you’re gonna join our gang, we have to let you in on a little secret — this body wash doubles as shampoo.
We know, we know, all-in-one products don’t get the best rep ‘round these parts, but why is that? Well, here’s the deal — typical all-in-one shampoos contain sulfates and parabens that can damage your hair, skin, and health. Not very badass. Just bad.
Lucky for you, we’re not typical. This wash has always been natural, sulfate-free, and ultra-sudsy, leaving your body and head hairs feelin’ clean and pristine so you can take on just about anything. And with this no-fuss body and hair combo in one bottle, you’re also saving quite a bit of coin. So now’s the time, more than ever, to break some rules and sport your most devilish shampoo horns with this body (and hair!) wash.

Social & Environmental Responsibility.
When it comes to sustainable fashion, reducing the need to throw and buy again is crucial. Artisans are skilled labourers who work with traditional techniques. These techniques have been around for centuries, passed down from a time when machine made, “disposable” fast fashion did not yet exist. Meaning, artisan hand-crafted garments generally lasts longer, and can also be mended if they experience slight wear and tear.
Recognising the intricacy, patience, and tedious labour that goes into the craft gives us a new perspective on our wardrobe. It was our visits to our artisan partners in India that made us realise how the value of craft is intrinsically interwoven into the lives of Indian culture and society. It taught us that clothes are not merely commodities, easily disposable and replaceable. Clothes that are made with love demands to be cared for with love. While fast fashion disconnects us from the supply chain behind a product, and makes us prone to throwaway without much thought, artisan-made clothes teaches us to treasure what we have, because we are connected to a face, a family, or a culture behind what we wear.
The better you treat your clothing, the longer your clothes will last and look great. In general, we wash clothing much more than we need to. Laundry wastes water and energy, breaks down fabrics, fades colors and releases tiny microplastics into our oceans. It’s impossible to skip the washer all together of course, but it’s good to be conscious of what’s in your laundry basket and skip washing until it’s really needed.
